Helpful Tips and Information
General
- Annual maintenance should be performed every year or about every 100 hours, whichever comes first
- Important dates: 4/1 & 9/1 Briggs long exercise dates. Will run 45 minutes
- BATTERIES: The manufacturer recommends that your battery is replaced every 4-5 years for best results
- If your power is out, but your neighbors have power, you can check your meter to be sure your home is receiving utiltiy power; If no numbers are present, there is no power to the home.
- To open your generator; push down on lid while turning the key. Know where your key is!
Storms
- Standby generators are made to run. If it runs out of oil or gas, the generator is designed shut itself down to prevent damage
- It is recommended to check your oil levels every 48 hours, during long outages. 5W-30 synthetic oil can be added a little at a time, being careful to not overfill
- We advise simulating a power outage when bad weather is forecasted
- Make sure to locate your key
